We are Growing!

All those nightly feedings must be paying off because Luke and Liam are growing quickly! Luke is up to 10 lbs and Liam is 8 lbs. 12 ounces. Both boys are quickly moving out of their newborn clothing and diapers and on to the 0-3 month clothing.

Attached is also a picture of the boys early yesterday morning. They love to sleep together in the crib. My mom is still helping us out this week and we have gotten lots of things done with her help. John's big project this week is building some shelves in the basement to store all of newly acquired baby stuff as well as our other belongings. We seem to have doubled in both people and items.

Boys Room, Grandma Morse's Visit, and Take Home Outfits

Our hospital take home outfits are finally fitting the boys. We bought some brown overalls with a gift card from our biking group in New Jersey. We are also getting more and more settled in the house each day. I am posting a few pictures of the boys room. Thanks to everyone who helped us get settled in the house. We have had lots of help from family and friends to assist with our move and unpacking boxes. Luke and Liam are both growing and eating well. Luke is still heavier and shorter and Liam is longer and lighter (at least that is what we think). We should find out their weight at an appointment later this week. Liam is doing well and has not had any additional apnea spells. We are hoping he will be off his monitor in 2-3 weeks.

My mom arrived on Sunday for a visit to help out with the boys. She is really enjoying her visit so far and we are keeping her busy.

Cheers!

Aunt Jenny Visits the Boys

We were very fortunate to have John's sister, Jennifer, help us with the boys this past week. Jenny arrived on Sunday and left this afternoon. She was a huge help is caring for the babies, cooking, getting us on a better schedule, cleaning, running errands, giving advice, and providing relief for both John and I. The boys are changing daily and really becoming more alert during the day. We are doing more play time with the boys after feedings and they are responding very well. They are very close to going 4 hours between feedings during the day and 5 hours at night which is a BIG step for us considering we were at 2-3 hours between feedings.
The house is definitely looking better and Jenny's help in organizing and keeping us focused was instrumental. We are so thankful for the visits we have had from both Ann and Jennifer.

We are Brothers!

Liam at 1 month

Luke at 1 month

We are ONE MONTH OLD!

Please forgive my seriously sleep deprived brain as I try to put together a coherent update on the boys.

Liam and Luke are one month old today, February 11, 2008. On February 9th, they officially made it to Hannah's 40 week gestation mark as well. The babies continue to grow and change daily. They are beginning to recognize our voices and respond to various stimuli like light and music. We continue to do our best to manage with two babies. When one is fussy, the other is likely sleeping. If one is hungry and drinks an entire bottle, the other wants to sleep and eats virtually nothing. The challenges are changing daily and we are forced to adapt as quickly as possible to keep up with the babies and their needs.

We are enjoying our new house and working very hard to get settled and find the items we need. If anyone were to see the inside of the house, they would likely be amazed at the progress in one week which John has reminded me of several times. I am too much of a perfectionist to admit that things are organized even if they really are. John has done a tremendous job at unpacking, organizing, working full time, and doing night time feedings. I was able to get out of the house for one of the first few times (we can count these trips on one hand) over the weekend while John watched the boys.

We met our neighbors last week and discovered we live in somewhat of a utopia neighborhood. The people were amazing and have offered to bring meals over every other day for the next couple of weeks. This is a major help for us as our initial meals we received after the hospital were dwindling and take out pizza was becoming less and less attractive.

Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers that we will stay upbeat, work together as a team, and continue to have patience to deal with two babies on a daily (and nightly) basis.

Pictures to come later today......(i hope).

John, Hannah, Liam, and Luke
