2020-2021 PWAA Second Place Trophy

I am several weeks behind on posting so this has a back log of information.  We have been through a district tournament for Aiden, a Region tournament for Luke, a jamboree for Finn, and finally the STATE tournament for Luke.  It was a fun filled, busy weekend of hockey and more hockey!

Aiden's Squirt A White team finished their season with a win in OT against the other Squirt A team in our association.  Both teams went through the district tournament and ended up playing each other in the championship.  The game went into overtime and Aiden's team won.  It's never easy playing your friends in regular district games, but playing them in the final district tournament is even harder.  Both teams finished first and second in the district which is quite an accomplishment.

Next up, Finn's Jamboree!  Last year, Finn missed his jamboree due to COVID so he was more than excited to participate this year.  They have smoke, lights, and an announcer for the kids.  They boys get to skate out of a tunnel and are announced with a nickname.  Finn's nickname was "Finn the Finisher."  He played another Mite 2 team and I think his team won according to Finn, but they don't actually keep score.  Finn was a winner either way and loved having his brothers there to watch!

Luke had two tough weekends of hockey as his team competed to advance out of the Regional tournament to punch their ticket to State.  The team managed to defeat two top five teams to advance to State.  Last week was busy as we were planning for State with a pasta supper, new jerseys, yard signs, and some fun gear.  The boys had a blast.  I know both John and I would agree that if you asked us at the beginning of the season if this team would make it to State, we would have said no way...but they worked hard and pulled together as a team making a pretty miraculous run for the State title.  We came up short in the championship game when things didn't quite go our way, but a second place finish is certainly impressive.  This was definitely a season we will never forget!
